At some point I am going to attempt a match to photoreference, as you mentioned previously.

Thanks Anish! No it's in a Mix material modifier + 2 Noise modifiers in the new Bump slot You need Speed Up (Per-Vertex Shading) turned off in the Rendering tab

superune: Yeah you are right I had to do allot post work to get the hair to blend with the lighting from the Lightwave render. I did it by eye and did some touch up paint work, so it isn't great.
